The mission of the Ecumenical Food Pantry (EFP) is to support those in the greater Harrisburg area experiencing food insecurity, primarily through the provision of emergency food assistance. We are one of the largest food pantries in Dauphin County in terms of volume of people served and are one of the few that provides access to emergency food assistance at least five days per week. The EFP is a volunteer-led organization with our Board of Directors and other volunteers working closely with our part-time Executive Director. Founded in response to the devastating impact of Tropical Storm Agnes in 1972, the EFP has been operating continuously for over 50 years. Although the EFP has seen significant changes in central Pennsylvania over the past half-century, the struggle to access reliable food sources has remained a constant for many of our neighbors. The EFP could not have become such a fixture in the area’s battle against food insecurity without its dedicated donors, volunteers and community partners, including churches, businesses, non-profit organizations, and individuals.
